A History of the Parish

In 1978, a group of laity with help of a missionary priest from the Anglican Catholic Church, The Rev’d Fr. Dale E. Mekeel, founded Saint Matthew’s Parish to fufill their desire to preserve the traditional form and dogma of Anglican worship. From humble beginnings in rented space, the Parish made a major leap forward in 1984 with the acquisition of its current home in Newport News.

The life of the Parish has always been and remains a labor of love through the faith and work of its clergy and laity.
