Saint Monica’s
Ladies of Faith
The church fellowship group, “Ladies of Faith” of Saint Matthew’s, meets about 6 times yearly. Anyone in the group can suggest, host, or plan a meeting. Activities include gathering at a local event, touring a historical site, having a shopping tour, attending a prayer meeting, or sharing a luncheon at someone’s home. Most importantly, the meeting provides a unique opportunity to establish bonds of friendship among the ladies of the church. If there’s a friend or family member who would like to join us or an at-home visitor, we’d love to have them join us in fellowship.
Usually, the meetings are on Saturdays, but we could meet at any time there is an event of interest. At one time we met in someone’s home for brunch, a review of how to use the missal, and then a hands-on craft time to make ribbons for our prayer books and the prayer books at church.
Now we are looking forward to organizing our 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat Event to be held in the driveway of the church. Also, there are holiday musical and vocal concerts coming up. There will be many more opportunities to volunteer our time to ready our church and parish hall for the Synod coming up in the autumn of 2025. The latest community outreach is with Care Net Peninsula where we can donate time and our energies to “Serve Moms and Save Babies”.
The very first time we gathered was at Hope’s home for lunch and “show and tell” of a unique family item. To top that day off we did a short autumn hike of the Nolan Trail.
Once we met at, and toured Saint Luke’s Historical Church in Smithfield. We followed that up with lunch at the Smithfield Inn.
Another time we met at Linda’s home for a talk about Turkey, the Seven Churches of Revelation, and a taste of Turkish food.
